“You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest, and most beautiful person I have ever known- and even that is an understatement.” ~F. Scott Fitzgerald
Yesterday marked our second anniversary. Two years of marriage, and four years of friendship, with the best friend I could ever hope to have. On a daily basis I am struck by this thing you and I have, this friendship, and how much we’ve grown together over these past few years. Even mundane things like running errands with you can have me stopping in my tracks with the realization that there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing, and no one else I’d rather be with.
We celebrated this day in our signature fashion, with breakfast in bed, a walk in the park where we got married, and a lazy afternoon under the lilacs. I know not every day will be this perfect — that we have mountains to climb together, and it won’t always be easy — but simple days like this, spent happily, lazily, with you, are by far some of my favorites.
Thank you for being my best friend — even when I’m cranky or goofy or hard to be around, and especially when I’m hangry — there’s no one in this world I’d rather be married to.
(First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Neko stealing the show — what a ham.)
