I should have known my habit of playing with my food, plus having a camera with a remote shutter release, would one day lead to this.
Inspired by one of my favorite foodies of all time, Laura Miller of Sidesaddle Kitchen (famous for her quirky instagraming), I took my first fruit and vegetable selfie thinking “hey, that looks fun!” And you know what? It IS fun. A lot of fun.
Getting in front of the camera is definitely a bit of an adjustment, especially when you’re used to being on the other side of things, but when you’re home, alone, with a couple of melons, or citrus fruit, or teeny tiny bananas… what are you going to do?
I first started sharing these food portraits on social media, but as my collection started growing, I decided it was best to put them all in one place. Seeing them all lined up like this is a little scary, but hey… this is the real, totally goofy, me.
If you have any suggestions for food you’d like to see me use, shoot me an e-mail over on my contact page. I’d love to hear from you!

That time I didn’t have any pins for my hair, so I used fresh herbs and berries instead. I’m all about the currant trends.

Rambutan eyeballs. Just like regular eyeballs, only tastier. And less useful for seeing stuff. And not at all creepy.

Crazy for Kiwi berries! Everything really is better bite sized.

I only have (marshmallow) eyes for you! (Valentine’s Day)

What the inside of my head must look like.

The Art of Eating. Clearly, I haven’t read it yet. (One of my new year’s resolutions: consume more literature.)

“Chunky” Jewelry (I also call this one my “supermodel” shot. I swear I don’t look this good in person.)
